Journalism may fade in NU name game

Well, why not?

Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism is actively considering dropping the word “journalism†from its title.

The Medill School of Audience and Consumer Information is one name under consideration by a faculty committee studying the issue. The Medill School of Media Arts and Sciences is another, as is The Medill School of Information and Influence.

The timing is perfect to dump the j-word.

Medill’s leadership—with an able assist from the university administration—has lately been trampling on the ideals of the craft that the school has taught since 1921.
