Reprieve for a Russian College

ST. PETERSBURG — A court order that had shuttered one of Russia’s most prestigious graduate schools and drawn worldwide protests from scholars was lifted Friday. But even as the European University at St. Petersburg prepares to resume lectures after a six-week hiatus, the suspension has sent a chill through parts of Russia’s academic community, with people saying that the state is becoming increasingly intolerant of politically sensitive and foreign-funded research.
