Pete Stark Endorses Obama; Other NoCal Superdelegates Stay Mum
The Pride of Hayward, Rep. Pete Stark, jumped on the Obama Superdelegate Bandwagon Friday.
In Pete’s own words* (*=as relayed by numerous spinmeisters): “Senator Barack Obama has captured the imagination of Americans in a way we’ve not seen for decades. He’s inspired millions of young people to register to vote and join the ranks of our Democratic Party, he’s consistently opposed the war, he advocates universal health care, and he delivers a message that transcends party politics at the same time.”
“I have the greatest respect for Senator Clinton and for her many years of service, but I believe the time has come to unify our party.”
But the rest of the undecided Bay Area delegation – the East Bay’s Jerry McNerney, South Bay’s Mike Honda, Monterey’s Sam Farr and of course Madame Speaker — remain uncommitted. Or committed to not publicly committing. Or committed to remaining uncommitted until it is politically safe to commit. Or until it is too politically dangerous not to commit. Check out the uncommitteds here, on our favorite SuperD site.
We all can relate to a fear of commitment, no?
