One of the more interesting conversations I had during my still-not-quite-over vacation was with my long-time friend Pete, who lives on Cape Cod and came in for a quick visit. He said his wife, Pam, has noticed that all the middle-aged, married women in her circle of friends have more or less the same complaint about their husbands:
