There are at least two types, among others, who closely monitor economic trends. One is represented by Chicken Little and his perennially urgent motto, “The sky is falling in.” The other is represented by U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, whose motto, in keeping with the stubborn outlook of the Bush gang with regard to just about everything ever since it took control of the government more than seven years ago, might be summarized as: “Here comes reality. Let’s look – and run – the other way.”
