LONDON – People born with a certain genetic mutation are likelier to develop the most dangerous form of skin cancer, Portuguese researchers have found.
Their study, presented yesterday at the Congress of the European Society for Medical Oncology in Stockholm, showed that the variation, in the cyclin D1 gene, raised the risk of developing melanoma by 80 percent.
