Ray Winstone has revealed that he was once arrested on suspicion of murder.

The actor, known for playing villainous characters on screen, told FHM that his arrest was part of a huge police search to catch a killer.

“I got arrested for murder, double murder in fact. Well, it was murder and attempted murder.

“I was filming a part in Bergerac at the time, and I was travelling backwards and forwards from Jersey.

“But I didn’t know a gang used that route to run guns, and I got pulled. Someone identified me from a photofit.”

Winstone added: “They pulled 1,500 people in on the same charge – eventually, they shot a man dead who they say committed the crime.”
