If Obama wins: What kind of symbol?

Civil-rights activist Martin Luther King, Jr. had a powerfully articulated dream that millions of Americans who were not proudly steeped in ignorance and hate could and did share, and which they nurtured in their hearts; it was a message of faith in and of hope for the broader human family – for what’s now known as “the global village” – that resonated with the downtrodden and also with fair-minded people of all colors, creeds or levels of privilege around the world.
