PIRATE THREAT: $25M OR ELSE

Pirates who hijacked one of the world’s biggest ships are demanding a $25 million ransom in 10 days – or else.

“We do not want long-term discussions to resolve the matter,” Mohamed Said, a representative of the pirates said in a phone call from aboard the Sirius Star.

He warned the Saudi owners that their $100 million ship and its $100 million cargo of crude oil are at risk. “The Saudis have 10 days to comply, otherwise we will take action that could be disastrous,” Said told Agence France-Presse.

There was no immediate response from ship owner Saudi Aramco.
