SIN TAXES: Tax on alcohol and tobacco to rise to offset cut in VAT

The Chancellor is increasing duties on alcohol and tobacco to wipe out the benefit of the cut in VAT. The lower VAT would have cut the price of a four can pack of John Smiths Extra Smooth by 8p to £3.56.
