I read that the teen who got shot was throwing rocks at a cop car and was about to light a molotov cocktail to throw at a cop car. I don’t know if it is true. But if that is true – then the cop had every right to shoot this kid – he was afterall breaking the law.And why is it that people always go nuts and start destroying public property ? Do they never realize that that will make nothing better. In fact – in the long run they and they public will wind up paying to re-build it all.

Here in Greece we have a very tense situation as everyone has obviously noticed. However one thing must be put correct! And that is that the rioting we have all witnessed these past 3 days has nothing to do with the death of the young boy ! A small historical and greek social note :The boy was shot in the “bad” or infamous area of athens called Exharheia.Supposedly the riots started from there where the agony for the death was so great it spilled out in the form of excessive violence.Exharheia is known as a run down area… poorer people live there and so on . The kid that was shot was of a very wealthy family and actually had never gone to exharheia before. So as you can understand these people that are supposedly acting in his name are the ones that few weeks ago were toarching his area and rioting for the fact that he has more than them .

What needless violence – you protest a teenagers unlawful shooting by setting fire to banks, shops, and cars? Precisley what do they have to do with it. These aren’t people who care about the teenager who died, or politics, or the state of the world. They are just yobs who see it as an opportunity to get away with wreckless, pointless, mindless destruction. They DISGUST me. And to those saying we live in a police state – stop talking rubbish. If you had travelled anywhere outside of the UK (or our EU sisters) you would recognise how pathetically powerless the police here are.

I agree with Leon. For some reason everyone who leaves a comment on this site is an apprent eye witness/expert in riot control/expert in Greek policing policies.
