About the riots that have erupted for almost a week in Greece after the recent shooting, by police, of a 15-year-old boy, the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet notes: “As the street protests over the death of a teen in a police shooting rage [on] in Greece, governments are concerned the violence could spread across Europe. Hundreds of people were detained in Spain, France and Denmark over copycat incidents, and politicians are wary of more revolt.” The backdrop against which the violence has unfolded is, of course, an “economic crisis” that is “tightening its grip on Europe.” As a result, “politicians and analysts fear the street battle raging in Greece could herald a violent winter of discontent elsewhere on the continent.”
