Slumdog wins Best Picture; eight Oscars total

It did it. After an incredible night, Slumdog Millionaire takes its eighth Oscar of the night, and the biggest on offer from the Academy Awards: Best Picture.
By my count, there were ten Oscar wins for Britain last night, if you include all the Slumdog gongs. Not a bad haul, really.
Now I’m off to the parties – my dispatches from which will be in Tuesday’s T2.
