Everyone needs a hobby. For myself, personally, when not reporting on hot, volatile countries, I like to bake. From fairy cakes to friands, from souffle to scones, the alchemy of flour, butter and eggs is a constant source of delight to me and, with a few exceptions, to the friends and colleagues who are obliged to eat the results.
