“The Midnight Special” on WFMT FM 98.7 (Saturdays 9 p.m. to midnight) has been a Chicago radio institution since 1953 and part of my week since 1980. Rich Warren, who has been the program’s sole host since 1996, plays an eclectic mix of folk music, comedy, show tunes and novelty numbers that often surprise and delight.
