John Williams raised a good point yesterday on WGN AM 720:Â Â University of Texas football coach Mack Brown took a calculated risk during the season by not giving backup quarterback Garrett Gilbert enough playing time to be ready to step in in an emergency. When the emergency hit and McCoy was knocked out of the game with a shoulder injury on the first drive of Thursday night’s national championship game against the University of Alabama, he lost that gamble.
