Sega’s upcoming episodic platformer Sonic The Hedgehog 4 has been rumoured for release on the iPhone.

The 2D title was previously confirmed for PSN, XBLA and WiiWare. However, the studio has since announced that the game will also arrive on a mystery platform.

According to SonicStadium, the fourth system is the iPhone. The website claims to have deciphered an encrypted image on the game’s official website, which reveals that the title is bound for the App Store.

Sonic has previously appeared on the Apple platform in Sonic At The Winter Olympic Games, before the title was removed from the App Store. The original Sonic The Hedgehog is also available to purchase via the online storefront.

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 will debut this summer.
