The Olympic ideal is fine – until it’s embraced by the grubby hands of money-men.

I just don’t get it.
The O’s are all about money.
Money, money, money.
I have been an expat for years, indeed, even my will states that just because I have a British passport, under no circumstances return my body to the eff UK.
Reading about this pavlova, further cements my belief that the UK has gone to the dogs.
The sad thing is, the people who still live there, are enablers to this demise of our once great country where commonsense was in our blood.
How can you all afford such ticket prices to begin with?!
Taking weeks off work?
Wouldn’t you rather spend the money visiting vineyards outside of Cape Town?
There is something disturbing about the way many humans get their kicks from the efforts of others.

As usual if it’s organised by British organisers, it’s flawed unfair and a farce, and the only people who will make from the olympics are the supper rich as usual.

I feel slightly relieved that I couldn’t care less about 99.9% of Olympic events. Actually, that’s probably closer to 100%.

We applied for nearly £8000 worth of tickets and have received nothing. We even got a Visa Credit card to pay for the tickets. We requested tickets for a wide variety of sports, not all the most popular. We also applied for a mix of expensive and cheaper tickets. I am very surprised to have received nothing. I am struggling to understand how some people have managed to get all of their ticket application and some are left with nothing. I do think there should have been some indication of the number of tickets available in each price category for public viewing, at least we would have maybe set our expectations lower. I did not expect to get everything, but I did expect to get something! It is very disappointing! As for having priority for second round tickets, I will reserve judgement until I can see what events these are for!

This is banana republic farce! Buy a ticket for the theatre, football match, cricket, tennis, anything, you know what you’re buying & how much your paying, if sold out, you miss out. . London Olympics?, Put your bids in & hope not only you get tickets, but you get tickets for the sport YOU want to watch. You get tickets for boxing (which you hate) & none for swimming (which you love), ad infinitum. Encouraged by Coe & Co. you bid for more than you expect (not knowing the cost or event) & end up bankrupt, with tickets for events you don’t want to watch! This is ludicrous in the extreme. What makes it even worse, 70% of tickets are RESERVED for corporate backers & they get what they want. These people couldn’t organise a booze-up in a brewery, or a game of tiddly winks. After witnessing this debacle I will not be watching any of the events on tv. I didn’t put a bid in knowing the process was flawed, but I feel for those who did, successful or not.
