John Goodman has joined Trouble with the Curve.

He will appear alongside Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake in the Robert Lorenz-directed drama, reports Variety.

The movie stars Eastwood as a baseball scout whose eyesight begins to fail him as he and his daughter (Adams) set out on a road trip to Atlanta to check out a new talent.

Goodman will play Pete Klein, an old friend and fellow scout.

Trouble with the Curve will mark a return to acting for Eastwood after a three-year hiatus following 2008′s Gran Torino.

Matthew Lillard has also been rumoured to be in the running for a role in the film as a rival scout.

Trouble with the Curve is planned for release on September 28 in the US, with release dates for further countries to follow.
